The September sun is still high and warm in the afternoon and the river is oh so inviting. As evening approaches, the sun is a little lower in the sky and the sunsets are breathtaking. There are many ways to partake in the poetic beauty of this area of the Delaware River made ever famous by George Washington’s crossing in 1776. Guests of the Bridgeton House often spend their afternoons whiling away the hours swimming off the dock, exploring via kayak the rugged edges and small islands of the river, or floating in a tube or raft from one small town to another. A favorite way to enjoy sunset on the river is to stroll across the bridge and look North – we know the sun sets in the West, but from the bridge you need to look North on the river to view the sunset.
